MP Jorida Tabaku said that the DP needs to reinvent itself and change, as it is not yet a governing alternative. In an interview for the show "Kjo Javë", Tabaku said that protests are necessary to show the anger of citizens, but they are not enough to bring about change.
The Democratic MP also highlighted the lack of meritocracy within the party, which she said she is also disappointed about.
"The DP must try to reinvent itself, we are in our 4th term in opposition and it is not easy, many things have changed. I am one of those people who sees the problem in myself. But protest is a way to react that the anger and opposition are there. The DP must correct itself and offer with all its strength an alternative governance model because people expect this. It is very easy today to be confused with the DP. I believed in meritocracy and it did not work for me. I also spoke to the doctor. But is the way to go out and throw stones and criticize? The way is to change," she said.
Tabaku made the comments a day after the national protest of the DP, where she was part of the speakers on the podium, but did not have the courage to mention them in front of the Democrats in the square. If the MP thinks that the DP really needs to change to be an alternative, then it is more reasonable for her to discuss this with the Democrats at headquarters and at the grassroots level, and not just in the television studios.
