
The Democratic Party and the Socialist Party have made official the names of the candidates who will face off in the local by-elections, which are expected to be held on November 9 in six municipalities across the country. Both political forces have gone through internal consultation and evaluation processes to select the names that will compete in these municipalities, where an intense competition is expected.
In the Municipality of Tirana, the opposition has decided to support actor and activist Florjan Binaj, who will face former Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu, who has been selected by the Socialist Party. Although the Constitutional Court overturned the November 9 date for the elections in Tirana, the candidates have not stopped their electoral campaign.
In the Municipality of Tepelena, the race will take place between Gabriel Guma from the Democratic Party and Gramoz Sako from the Socialist Party, the latter a well-known name as the former head of the Republican Guard.
In Vlora, Dionis Sota will represent the Democratic Party, while facing him will be Brunilda Mersini, who will carry the flag of the Socialist Party in this coastal city.
In the Municipality of Mati, the Democratic Party candidate is Eduart Brahlika, who will face Altin Bajni, the representative selected by the Socialist Party.
In Cerrik, the Democrats have chosen Amarildo Hoxha as their candidate, while the Socialists will run with Florenc Doka.
Meanwhile, in the Municipality of Berat, the confrontation will be between Pavlo Shkarpa from the Democratic Party and Ervin Ceca from the Socialist Party.
The six municipalities where the partial elections will be held have become the epicenters of political attention, with the main actors aiming to increase their weight in local government for the upcoming local elections.
