A day after declaring that he did not remember if he had ever been in a car with businessman Artur Shehu, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has regained his memory, categorically denying such a thing today. However, he added that he could have been in a car with him, since according to him, the Artur Shehu of 1998 is different from the one today, who according to him, benefits from favors from Edi Rama.
However, the leader of the DP did not provide an answer regarding the Democratic MP from Vlora, who is a close friend of the businessman in question.
"Yesterday you asked me: 'Did you get in Artur Shehu's car when you went to Vlora in '98?' Absolutely not. And it's documented. But I could have gotten in, because Artur Shehu of '98 and Artur Shehu later are like night and day, like Edi Rama and Ismail Qemali. I know he comes from a persecuted family, they told me it's a good family. But his name appeared with General Lisi and Don Agaci (Engjëll Agaçi) in a perfect mafia operation. General Lisi took 30 hectares from Artur Shehu; a foundation that he had arranged as a family member, donated it to him, stayed and gave it to Agaçi, and then he made him a prisoner. And what did he say? 'Artur Shehu brought me Agaçi.' I am not aware of any connection with any MP," Berisha said.
It has been rumored that the Democratic MP from Vlora, Bujar Leskaj, is the bridge in this relationship. Leskaj is widely known for his friendship with Shehu and for the closeness of both to the Democratic Party. Perhaps for this reason, Berisha has been cautious in his statements, as he did today.
