The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has denied that the group's deputies or their staff have received any summons from the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) regarding the January 21 issue.
"The prosecution has not sent any notification to the Parliamentary Group and consequently our staff had nothing to reject. SPAK's referral of a lie told by the Parliament deserves only contempt," said Bardhi in his official reaction.
According to Bardhi, the Assembly administration has not deposited any notice in the mailboxes of DP deputies and none of the members of the parliamentary group has received a summons to appear at SPAK this Friday.
"It is proven that no notice sent by SPAK from the administration of the Albanian Parliament has been deposited in the mailboxes of any MP from our parliamentary group, which are located within the premises of the Parliament," says Bardhi.
He emphasized that the provision of postal services does not fall within the scope of responsibilities of parliamentary staff and accused the socialist majority of political abuse and staged propaganda through the Special Prosecution Office.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, did not appear at SPAK today, claiming that no summons was sent to his address. But SPAK, in a reaction to the media, said that it had sent the notice to three destinations: the apartment, the Democratic Party and the Albanian Parliament, but in all three cases it was rejected.
This development increases the tension between the DP and SPAK, while the issue of January 21 remains one of the most followed and controversial political processes in the country.
