The President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, is representing Albania at the Conference of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the European Union, taking place in The Hague from 13 to 15 November 2025, where our country participates with observer status.
In the opening session, the President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, Dineke de Groot, and the First President of the Court of Cassation of France, Christophe Soulard, expressed condolences for the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja and supported Sadushi's statement that "justice will not bow in the face of violence."
Sadushi thanked the leaders of European courts for their solidarity, emphasizing that the attack on the courtroom was a blow to the rule of law:
“Supporting the European judiciary is a powerful reminder that the integrity of the judiciary is a shared value. Our resistance is the most worthy response to the act of violence.”
In Session II, focused on the role of social media and the challenges of judicial independence, Sadushi highlighted the dangers brought by the digital age:
"disinformation, hate speech and pressures on decision-making. He underlined the need for the judiciary to build a "credible, calm and courageous digital voice" to protect institutional integrity and increase public trust.
The conference continues until November 15th.
