Prime Minister Edi Rama has presented the composition of the new government, with several new names in key positions and moves that are expected to directly impact the architecture of the executive branch.
Here is the composition of the new cabinet:
• Albana Koçiu – Deputy Prime Minister
• Enea Karakaçi – Minister of Energy
• Besfort Lamallari – Minister of Interior
• Toni Gogu – Minister of Justice
• Ferit Hoxha – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs
• Ermal Nufi – Minister of Defense
• Erjona Ismaili – Minister for Parliamentary Relations
The most notable moves are in strategic sectors. In Energy, Karakaç’s appointment comes at a time when the sector remains under pressure due to investigations and internal political tensions. In Defense, the selection of Nufi – a figure from Belinda Balluku’s cabinet – is seen as an extension of her influence in another sensitive department.
In diplomacy, the appointment of Feri Hoxha is considered a choice with a clear professional profile, bringing to the head of the Foreign Ministry a career diplomat with experience in Brussels and in relations with the EU.
Meanwhile, Toni Gogu in Justice and Besfort Lamallari in Interior represent the political continuity of the majority in two ministries that remain at the center of public debate due to issues of order, security, and justice reform.
Rama's new government appears to combine technical figures, political loyalists, and career diplomats, at a time when the majority faces increased pressure from SPAK investigations, internal tensions, and the challenges of European integration.
