The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) announced on Monday, September 8, that its head, prosecutor Altin Dumani, held several meetings in the United States of America at the end of August and at the beginning of this month, in the framework of cooperation against drug trafficking and money laundering.
The announcement states that Dumani held high-level meetings during his official visit to Washington DC, on September 2 and 3. "During meetings with officials from the Department of State, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the importance of close cooperation between SPAK and US law enforcement agencies to crack down on international criminal organizations, to stop illegal drug trafficking and money laundering was discussed," the announcement states.
It is also clarified that at the invitation of the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Dumani participated in the International Conference on Drug Law Enforcement, held in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 26-28.
During the conference titled "Global Unity for a Safer Future: Strengthening Alliances Against Transnational Crime", Dumani held a meeting with the DEA Administrator, Mr. Terrance Cole, where they discussed existing cooperation in the fight against international drug trafficking, as well as the importance of its continuation and expansion in the future.
The head of SPAK also held meetings with representatives of law enforcement agencies of the countries participating in the conference, with whom he discussed the possibility of creating bridges of communication and strengthening existing relations, with the aim of combating international drug trafficking. /BIRN/
