Today's plenary session began with tensions, as the opposition requested that the discussion of the government program, held last week, be put back on the agenda. The request was rejected by the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, causing verbal clashes between the parties.
Peleshi, before the start of the session, convened the Conference of Speakers to approve the lists of members submitted by the three opposition parliamentary groups, as well as the proposals of the Socialist Party. The issue went to a vote in the plenary session. So far, only the chairmen and deputy chairmen proposed by the SP have been approved, while the parliamentary committees continue to remain non-functional due to the lack of opposition representatives. A day earlier, the DP announced that it had submitted the names for the 4 committees it is responsible for leading.
The agenda includes the draft decision "On determining the composition of the permanent committees of the Assembly" and the draft decision "On appointing substitute members to the composition of the permanent committees".
MP Jorida Tabaku requested correction of the minutes of the previous session, emphasizing that the opposition cannot be denied the right to debate.
"I understand, the government has no vision, but you cannot deny the opposition the right to a parliamentary debate. You cannot take away our right to speak," she said.
Meanwhile, MP Belind Këlliçi accused the session leaders of manipulating the minutes and failing to reflect reality.
"You cannot pass this session as if everything is normal. Those minutes do not reflect the situation of last week. In just 25 minutes of discussion, not a word from the opposition was heard. This is a stain of shame on this Assembly and on you as the speaker," he declared.
