The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared today that Ervin Salianji has excluded himself from the Democratic Party, avoiding any further comment on the former MP's position within the party's structures.
Annoyed by the journalists' question about Ervin Salianji's current status in the DP, Berisha replied briefly that "Salianji has crossed red lines" and that it is a matter of self-exclusion. The democratic leader refused to elaborate further on the latest developments, at a time when Salianji has launched a movement within the party and direct meetings with the electorate.
During today's press conference, Berisha thanked the participants in last night's opposition rally and called on the State Police to release the protesters detained during the rally.
Today, Berisha, together with MP Albana Vokshi, presented a voluminous book of around 1,500 pages, which compiles journalistic articles and denunciations related to the electoral issues of the May 11 elections.
There are discussions within the ranks of the Democratic Party whether this material will be submitted to SPAK as evidence of electoral irregularities, although Berisha himself expressed skepticism about such a step.
The opposition leader once again reiterated the demand for the establishment of a caretaker government, describing it as one of the opposition's main conditions for resolving the political crisis and guaranteeing free elections.
