Socialist Party MP and former minister Olta Xhaçka appeared before the Special Prosecutor's Office this Tuesday. Asked by journalists, Xhaçka did not give any comment regarding the reason for the summons.
Sources indicate that she was summoned as part of the investigations that SPAK is conducting into the issue of the Limion Port in Saranda. The investigation began after the complaint made in 2021 by the former deputy commander of the Naval Force, Artur Meçollari, who opposed the decision of the Council of Ministers dated July 1, 2020. With this decision, the Limion Naval Base, with an area of over 265 thousand square meters, was leased for 20 years, at the symbolic fee of 1 euro, to a consortium of private companies.
As part of the investigation, the Saranda Naval Base will continue to remain sequestered until the completion of verifications by the Special Prosecution Office on the procedures followed for the leasing of military property.
