A day ago, the chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, announced through a post on the social network Facebook that he had submitted a request for an urgent meeting of the Mandates Council, with a focus on authorizing the arrest or deprivation of liberty of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister and MP Belinda Balluku.
The five DP members on the Immunity Council requested that the Immunity Council meet today at 11:00 to review the prosecution's request to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
On the other hand, today the Ethics Secretariat is expected to hold another meeting at 10:00, where the Socialist Party's request for disciplinary measures against 29 opposition MPs involved in the incidents that occurred during the December 18 plenary session in the Assembly will be reviewed.
The previous session was interrupted after the deputies requested access and familiarization with the evidentiary materials on which the majority's request is based. The Socialist Party has also filed a request to the Prosecutor's Office to assess whether there are elements to initiate a criminal investigation against deputies Flamur Noka and Klevis Balliu, in connection with physical clashes with employees of the Republic Guard.
According to the majority's position, the acts of violence were not spontaneous, but organized by leaders of the Democratic Party, including Sali Berisha, Flamur Noka, and Gazmend Bardhi.
The SP proposes a 60-day suspension from parliamentary work for Flamur Noka and Klevis Balliu for physical clashes, as well as for Sali Berisha and Gazmend Bardhi, who are considered organizers of the events. Similarly, similar measures are requested for the MPs who threw incendiary substances in the Assembly hall, including Belind Këlliçi, Fidel Kreka, Albana Vokshi, Ledina Alolli and Denisa Vata.
For 19 other opposition MPs, who are accused of surrounding the podium during the session, the majority is seeking a lighter disciplinary measure, specifically a 10-day suspension from parliamentary activities.
