Bardhi requests a Council meeting on January 6, while the session begins on the 19th. He accuses the majority of blocking SPAK's request.
The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has officially requested the re-convening of the Mandates Council meeting on January 6, at 11:00, accusing the majority of deliberately delaying the review of the Special Prosecution's request for the lifting of immunity and the arrest of a female MP.
Bardhi stated that the two-week delay in reviewing the request is unprecedented and has been absurdly justified by the claim that the defendant requested three weeks of time to defend herself. According to him, when prison arrest is requested, every defendant tries to postpone the process, but this cannot prevail over the prosecution's request, which, according to the law, must be reviewed within 3 to 5 days.
He emphasized that today it has been a full two weeks since the request arrived at the Assembly and the prosecution has still not been heard, a situation that, according to Bardhi, has never happened before, especially in conditions where there are indications of evidence tampering and intimidation.
Meanwhile, the situation remains unclear due to institutional deadlines. The Assembly is expected to open the new parliamentary session on January 19, while Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that he will await the decision of the Constitutional Court, which is expected to convene on January 22. This creates a procedural and political deadlock over the real validity of the Council's call on January 6 and the continuation of the process requested by SPAK.
