The Constitutional Court has reacted publicly through an official clarification, denying as completely untrue the media statements made by various entities exercising public or private functions, regarding the procedure followed and the result of the vote for its decision-making on the suspension of the implementation of two judicial decisions of the Special Court.
This concerns decisions no. 118, dated 19.11.2025, and no. 120, dated 22.11.2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, for the part that ordered the imposition and continuation of the prohibitory measure "suspension of the exercise of a public duty or service" against citizen Belinda Balluku.
In its response, the Constitutional Court emphasizes that this is a constitutional judicial procedure still ongoing and that the case will be examined in a public plenary session on January 22, 2026. The session will be held with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania as the applicant, while the interested parties are the President of the Republic, the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, and the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
To guarantee due legal and constitutional process, as well as to avoid any possibility of prejudice, even in appearance, the Constitutional Court calls on all actors and persons involved in the public discussion to be prudent and careful in their statements, not defaming individual judges or the institution as a whole.
In conclusion, the Constitutional Court reiterates its commitment to exercising its constitutional function with transparency and full respect for constitutional and legal procedures, once again inviting all actors to respect its integrity and authority. According to the Court, the guarantee of public trust and the independence of judicial decision-making should not be compromised under any circumstances by misinformation of the public, regardless of its source.
