For four days, the city of Vlora has been without water supply due to a defect in the main line, but for Mayor Brunilda Mersini, the problem is neither technical nor institutional, it is a "natural disaster."
As citizens have protested the lack of drinking water, the mayor has chosen to avoid responsibility, emphasizing that the water supply is not under the municipality's control and that "this is not the time to share responsibility."
According to her, the good news is that the latest test has resulted positive and part of the city, specifically the Lungomare area, has begun to be supplied with water, but only with "minimum pressure", so as not to increase the level of risk, as she put it.
Meanwhile, the citizens' protests were not seen as a reaction to a vital problem, but as a political maneuver. Mersin described them as organized by the opposition, which, according to her, "is trying to make opposition out of natural disasters."
