The meeting of the Special Commission for Territorial Reform was accompanied by tensions and debates between representatives of the opposition and the majority, culminating in the departure from the hall of the democratic co-chair, Luciano Boçi.
The verbal clash occurred between Boç and the Socialist co-chair of the committee, Arbjan Mazniku, during discussions about the progress of the meeting and the time reserved for the deputies.
The debate began after Mazniku intervened, asking Boç to finish his speech, arguing that opposition MPs had monopolized the discussions and were not giving space to representatives of the majority.
The situation became even more tense when Mazniku cut off the microphone of the Democratic MP, an action that brought an immediate reaction from Boçi. The latter described the intervention as unethical and contrary to the normal functioning of the committee.
"My microphone cannot be taken away while I am speaking. I do not accept such interruptions in the committee," Boçi said during the debate.
On the other hand, Mazniku insisted that the opposition had prolonged the discussions for hours without allowing representatives of the majority to take the floor.
The clash continued in harsh tones between the two co-chairs, while Boçi accused Maznik of unacceptable interference in his speech and violating the rules of parliamentary debate.
After the exchange of accusations and tensions in the hall, the Democratic MP left the meeting, interrupting his participation in the committee.
However, even the five-minute break requested during the meeting failed to reduce tensions between the parties. Debates over the management of the committee continued even after the meeting returned to the room.
Socialist representatives returned to the committee a few minutes earlier than the opposition, claiming that the opposition deputies had exceeded their recess time and that there was no reason to wait any longer for the meeting to begin.
Upon the arrival of the opposition representatives, Luciano Boçi took the floor and described the socialists' action as a violation of the committee's regulations, demanding that the opposition have the right to speak.
On the other hand, Arbjan Mazniku opposed the manner in which the opposition was returned to the committee and insisted that the normal meeting procedure continue.
Tensions between the two co-chairs increased further as they pulled the microphones towards each other during the discussion. The situation in the committee remains tense.
