For the first time since being released from house arrest by the Supreme Court, former head of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Agency, Mirlinda Karçanaj, appeared at SPAK under the "compulsory appearance" measure. Accompanied by her lawyer, the former senior official stood for only a few minutes in front of a BKH agent, where she signed, as required by law.
Upon leaving, the former director of AKSHI remained silent in front of the media, giving no explanation, even though during an interview on Top Channel she raised allegations that journalists had not given her the opportunity to speak, and even described them as "news fabricators". At a time when it turns out to be quite the opposite, Karçanaj has refused to speak for journalists on the ground, likely unable to answer questions that were not served by her.
Karçanaj is suspected of being part of a criminal group led by Ergys Agasi, who fixed tenders at the institution. According to SPAK, Agasi and his friend Ermal Beqiri ordered the kidnapping of rivals, forcing them to give up tenders under threat.
