The Political Party "Albania Becomes Movement", represented by its chairman, Adriatik Lapaj, has sent an official request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Central Election Commission (CEC) for compensation for the rent of its headquarters in Tirana.
According to the document recorded at the CEC on May 18, 2026, obtained by VNA, the request is based on the Law on Political Parties, which obliges the state to provide buildings for the headquarters of parliamentary parties or to assume the payment of rent when no vacant state buildings are found.
The Municipality of Tirana (by letter of January 2026) and the State Cadastre Agency (by letter of February 2026) have stated that they do not have vacant buildings that meet the criteria for headquarters.
The party has entered into a private lease contract for a building (unit) with a total area of approximately 163 m² on "Jeronim De Rada" Street in Tirana. The monthly rent, for which compensation is requested, is 250,000 new lek or 2,500 euros per month.
The contract was signed on February 11, 2026 with the landlord Haki Hallaçi and has an initial term of 1 year.
This request comes after the political entity claims that the restructuring processes in state agencies should not become an obstacle to fulfilling the legal obligations that the state has towards political parties. The submitted documentation includes the notarized contract and prior correspondence with the institutions.
