Socialist MP Erion Braçe seems to have officially entered the phase of uncovering Tirana's problems, precisely after deciding to publicly offer himself as a potential candidate for the capital's mayor.
After more than a decade in power as part of the socialist majority, Braçe showed in "Kjo Javë" that he is now seriously concerned about bicycle lanes, motorbikes, cars, the lack of services and the fact that "Tirana is neither governed nor self-governing."
So in short, the city that the Socialist Party has been administering for years has major problems. And surprisingly, this became more apparent precisely at the moment when the discussion about Erion Veliaj's successor began.
Braçe also spoke about the lack of democracy in the SP, saying that the party has turned into "a wall where announcements are posted" and not into a structure with competition and democratic processes. A rare criticism in a party where for a long time the most important decisions have come down as announcements and not as votes.
He even took care to clarify that he does not see Edi Rama as a "king", although he indirectly admitted that there are those who think of him as such. An ironic description of how power really works in the Socialist Party, where the prime minister controls the government, the party, the lists and practically every political decision-making.
In the end, the question arises: is Braçe running to change the way Tirana is governed, or is he simply trying to convince the public that the municipality politically run by the same majority as Edi Rama will function better... with a different administrator but with Rama's blessing?
