"I have never felt anything worse than the criminalization of my life"
Mirlinda Karçanaj spoke on Top Channel about her personal life, assets and seizures against her, stating that everything she has built is the result of her work over the years and that every asset is declared according to the law.
The former director of AKSHI said that she currently lives in a rented apartment, which she chose near her workplace since she does not drive.
"I live in a rented house. Until 2024, I lived in the apartment where I was born. I rented the apartment where I live under a contract and I chose it close to work, because I don't drive and I don't have a car," Karçanaj declared.
She also reacted to seized assets, emphasizing that seizure does not automatically mean that an asset is illegal.
"A seized asset is not illegal. But I want to add that I cannot experience a worse feeling than the criminalization of my life," she said.
Karçanaj also recalled the period of emigration to Canada, saying that her assets were built through years of work and sacrifice.
"Those are the furniture and walls built with dignity. I have been working for 30 years. I emigrated to Canada, I left home at 7 in the morning and returned at 8 in the evening," declared the former director of AKSH.
She also said that like all Albanians, she rented a house.
According to her, every asset she owns is declared to the High Inspectorate for Declaration and Control of Assets and Conflict of Interest.
