After no candidate managed to pass the "open competition" filter, the Democratic Party has proudly announced the completion of preparations for the grand referendum of May 23, where the membership will have the historic opportunity to choose between Sali Berisha and Sali Berisha.
However, even though the alternative on the ballot is only one candidate, party representatives do not hesitate to trumpet this process as the most democratic one taking place in the party.
The Secretary for Legal Affairs in the DP, Ivi Kaso, once again announces that the process will be conducted according to the democratic standard “1 member, 1 vote”. “On behalf of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, we announce that everything is ready for the democratic exercise of May 23”, he declared, describing the process as a referendum, although it is more like a confirmation ceremony.
Kaso described the process as an "exercise of democracy," while not sparing other statistics, saying that the DP has conducted a full 7 open and democratic electoral processes since the Re-Foundation, so open that this time no one else was left inside to run.
According to him, voting centers will be set up in all 77 party branches, open from 08:00 to 18:00, while in larger branches there will be more than one voting center.
We recall that Ervin Salianji, Mereme Sela, Vladimir Mulaj, Alesia Balliu and Evi Kokalari had expressed interest in the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party, but their candidacies were rejected, on the grounds that they did not meet the criteria.
Meanwhile, Salianji filed a request with the DP Presidency and the Appeals Committee, claiming that his candidacy was illegally obstructed and that the documents sent physically, by mail and email have suffered the fate of many other messages in politics: they have been seen, but not read.
