A fire in a residential house in the center of Prizren has caused the death of a child about 1 year old. Three other children have been rescued and are being treated in hospital, in stable condition and under monitoring.
According to doctors, the child who died was taken to the emergency room without signs of life, while the other three had smoke inhalation. Police announced that the fire has been localized and that investigations are underway; initial suspicions are that the cause may have been electricity or electrical equipment.
Witnesses said the fire quickly engulfed an old wooden house. Neighbors managed to pull three children out, but were unable to save the fourth due to the intense flames. Firefighters and police responded immediately to the scene.
