The Elbasan Court acquits Donald Hoxha, accused of premeditated murder in his role as an assistant to former police officer Roland Rexhepi, known as Doda. The prosecution had requested a 16-year prison sentence for the defendant, arguing that there is evidence implicating him in the incident that occurred in the summer of 2009.
According to investigators, Donald Hoxha had transported the vehicle used in the murder from Durrës to Elbasan. Hoxha was declared wanted and after his arrest in Great Britain he was extradited to Albania. This Tuesday he was acquitted, but the prosecution says it will appeal the decision. Armand Llakaj, Marjus Tafaj and Florind Shabani have been convicted for involvement in the murder of the former police officer known as Doda.
