The testimony of Daniel Pepa, who turned himself in to the police after the murder of Florian Paluçi on October 22 in Manzë, Durrës, has been made public. Pepa claimed that he shot in self-defense, as Paluçi was the first person to open fire, killing his friend, Aranit Kurti. During questioning at the Durrës police, the young man argued that if he had not shot, Paluçi would have killed him just as he killed Aranit.
The incident began due to a conflict over an unlit espresso machine, while both parties were armed. Pepa stated that he acted out of psychological shock and the need for self-defense. According to the footage, which is considered key evidence, Paluçi opened fire first, shooting first at the ground and then at Pepa. Aranit Kurti attempted to intervene by punching Paluçi, but Paluçi shot Aranit, causing his immediate death. Pepa then shot Paluçi once, causing his death.
After the incident, Daniel Pepa and several other people left the scene of the crime, but later returned. Pepa then left permanently, surrendering himself a few days later to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office. He is expected to appear before the Durrës court to be familiarized with the security measure "arrest in prison".
