The Supreme Court has rejected Fredi Beleri's appeal, rejecting his request to launch investigations against former Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka and her husband, Artan Gaçi, regarding the alleged alienation of land in Himara for the construction of a resort with strategic investor status.
SPAK had twice decided not to initiate criminal proceedings, while the First Instance Court for Corruption and Organized Crime had ordered that Beleri's report be investigated, arguing that there were elements that raised reasonable suspicions of criminal offenses and conflict of interest.
The Special Prosecution Office appealed this decision and the Anti-Corruption Appeal ruled in favor of SPAK, returning the case to the starting point.
In Monday's session, the Supreme Court panel, with rapporteur Sokol Binaj and members Ilir Panda and Sandër Simoni, upheld the Appeals Court's decision, definitively sealing the decision that the Xhaçka-Gaçi couple will not be investigated for this matter.
