The Korca Prosecution Office extends the investigation deadlines for Denis Mece, suspected of the murder of Egli Proga in Pogradec, by another 3 months, an event that occurred on August 10, 2024.
According to the decision signed by the prosecutor in the case, the investigation deadline has been extended until November 11, 2025 because a response has not yet been received from a laboratory in Italy for the analysis of footage from several cameras that could shed light on the dynamics of the serious crime.
The prosecution decided to send the footage abroad for expertise due to the contradictory testimonies of the people involved in the event.
The main suspect Denis Meçe stated that Proga was hit in the interior of the Stropcka bar, also by the owner Leonidha Guçe. The latter has denied this fact. While Andi Shkulaku, the main witness of the event, has given different testimonies several times. For this reason, the prosecution requested the help of Italian experts to recover the DVR footage of the bar and analyze the footage of the security cameras of a market.
Egli Proga lost his life after being hit shortly after leaving the Stropcka bar in Pogradec.
His sister made strong accusations against the police for manipulating the incident. Protests took place after the incident, while the police and the prosecution clashed fiercely with statements.
