A quantity of unexploded TNT was found at the entrance of a hotel owned by the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako. Police sources said they were alerted via a message that an explosive device had been placed near the entrance of the hotel, which after inspection was found to be present exactly at the signaled location.
The explosive was connected to a mobile phone and the assistance of engineering forces from Tirana was requested to neutralize it, which carried out a controlled explosion.
The hotel where the TNT was found is out of order, which makes investigators suspect that this is not an assassination attempt, but a threatening message towards Dako.
The charges against Vangjush Dako
Vangjush Dako has been sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison for abuse of office, and is currently facing the Special Court of Appeal.
He was investigated by SPAK regarding the approval of a construction permit in favor of the company "Fakle" sh.pk, as he and his subordinates had compiled the documents two years after the construction had been completed and the residents had settled in the building.
Dako also faces another charge related to a procurement procedure for a consultancy project, specifically:
"Design-implementation for the Coastal Promenade and Public Beach from Brërryli to Currila".
According to SPAK, the commission established by order of Dako erred in calculating the limit fund, determining it almost 10 times higher than it should have been, contrary to the Decision of the Council of Ministers.
