The 20 arrested people accused of the dangerous waste of "Kurum" have arrived at the Durrës Court to be informed about the security measures.
The Durrës Prosecutor's Office issued 33 arrest warrants more than a year after seizing 2,800 tons of hazardous waste after investigations revealed violations of environmental legislation by Kurum, the "Sokolaj" company that purchased the waste, but also by the National Environment Agency and Durrës Customs. The operation to execute the measures extended to 3 cities, Tirana, Durrës and Elbasan.
As part of the operation codenamed "Eco-Toxic", the police executed 20 security measures, for criminal offenses in the fields of smuggling, waste management, document forgery and laundering of the proceeds of criminal activity. The other 13 accused persons have been declared wanted.
