The Vlora Prosecutor's Office has announced that, at its request, the "Preventive Seizure" asset security measure has been imposed on a series of immovable and movable assets worth around 2 million euros. These properties are owned by Tahir Qenami (also known by the surname Kapaj/Canaj), born on October 21, 1986 in Vlora and residing in the same city.
According to the official announcement, the seizure was carried out within the framework of investigations into "Laundering of proceeds of crime or criminal activity", provided for by Article 287 of the Criminal Code. The investigations were based on reference materials received from the Vlora Local Police Directorate, which link citizen Qenami to criminal activities carried out abroad.
Seized assets
The long list of assets placed under seizure includes several apartments, shops, commercial units, parking spaces and vehicles, registered in Vlora and Tirana. Specifically:
An apartment with an area of 82 m² in the “29 Nëntori” neighborhood, Vlora, owned by Tahir Qenami;
A field with an area of 2000 m² in Radhimë, owned by citizens EK and FK;
An apartment in Sauk, Tirana, with an area of 108.5 m², owned by citizen EQ;
Two commercial units (shops) in the “1 Maji” neighborhood, Vlorë, with an area of 50.6 m² and 89.8 m², commissioned by Tahir Qenami;
A series of parking lots with an area ranging from 28 to 36 m² in the same neighborhood, all commissioned by the same person;
A considerable number of apartments booked in the “1 Maji” neighborhood, Vlorë, on different floors of a building built by the company “Lespipa” shpk, with an area ranging from 49.7 to 108.45 m²;
Two vehicles: a 1994 Daimler Chrysler (E200) and a 2005 Ford Focus, owned by Tahir Qenami.
The investigation and Qenami's criminal past
The investigation data shows that Tahir Qenami was previously involved in criminal activity in Germany, where he was arrested on January 4, 2023 and subsequently convicted of drug trafficking. According to investigators, the proceeds from this criminal activity are suspected of being used for real estate investments in Albania, mainly in the Vlora area.
