Citizens, parents, students and heads of households protested against the order of Minister Albana Koçiu, which has blocked the movement of electric vehicles in the country for four months. According to them, skateboards and scooters are for many of them the only means of transportation in a capital without trams and metro, while the price of fuel remains high.
Protesters rejected the minister's arguments about a lack of infrastructure, noting that 52 kilometers of bicycle lanes have been built in Tirana. They also rejected claims that skateboards are more dangerous, stating that car accidents are more frequent and have more serious consequences.
Also, the practice of seizing funds for lack of an invoice was opposed, with the argument that the law provides for its storage for only one day and at a certain distance from the place of purchase.
The protesters presented two main demands: the immediate cancellation of the order and the return of the seized assets, along with compensation to citizens.
