Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "Opinion", shed light on the dynamics that led to Ilir Proda's dismissal, linking them to political influences and possible investigations by SPAK.
Lala said that appointments in the State Police have not followed the path of meritocracy, but have been dictated by exponents outside the official structures. According to the journalist, about 70% of the heads of the police stations, including the former police chief Proda himself, have been appointed with the direct influence of Ergys Agas.
Although the dismissal came after the tense protest of February 28, Lala revealed that Prime Minister Edi Rama's decision to dismiss Proda had been made some time ago. The reason for this seems to have been a fierce debate between the head of government and the police director.
According to the journalist, Proda's departure is just the beginning of a wider "sweep." It is expected that all of his trusted officials in the districts will gradually leave, marking a complete restructuring of the chain of command.
Another serious element weighing on the figure of the former police chief are suspicions of links to criminal groups, specifically the Çopja brothers. Klodiana Lala confirmed that there are serious suspicions of disclosing police operations, which has led to Proda being under the scrutiny of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK).
These accusations stem from the dismantling of encrypted communication platforms, where the names of senior officials allegedly appear in contexts of favoritism towards criminal elements.
