In the trial against members of the criminal gang led by Laert Haxhiu, a sworn opponent of Aldo Bare, the former head of the Lushnja Gang, the GJKKO heard the testimonies of several witnesses.
Elvis Shehu, cousin of the victim Çajup Selimi, who was killed at the door of the palace on June 1, 2011, stated that before he was executed, he had accompanied him by car to the alley of his house. "The murder occurred on June 1, 2021. I was with Çajup's brother, I took him to his work and we went for a walk. While they were walking, I saw my uncle with an acquaintance. We also took them and took them to work. When we were returning, he said to me; take me home. I left him in the alley of his neighborhood. 20 minutes later, the police picked me up and said: ask if something happened to Çajup," said the witness. He explained that he had no knowledge that Çajup had any problems or conflicts with anyone.
Spiro Kore, another witness, said that on the evening of the incident, he had seen a person wearing a hat sitting at the back entrance of Çajup Selim's palace and the next day he learned that he had been killed. He said that Çajup was involved in trade, and he was not aware of any conflict.
Laert Haxhiu, Artan (Marjus) Tafani, Erisiano Abedini, Lulzim Spahija (Arapi), Ligor Romacka and Bujar Abedini are accused of the murder of Çajup Selim in the town of Tepelena. The investigation revealed that the merchant Selim had sexually harassed the mother of one of the members of their group, Erisiano Abedini, nicknamed "Cano", and for this reason he had requested his execution.
The testimony of Ahmet Abedin
Ahmet Abedini, the father of Erisjano Abedini and the brother of Bujar Abedini, who are accused by SPAK of the murder of businessman Selimi, testified at the Special Court.
"That day I was at work, in the afternoon I went to Gjirokastra, I had hospitalized my mother. We had the same business activity, we sold construction materials. I have two stores. I work in one, my wife works in the other. I had conflicts with Çajup because he made anonymous phone calls to my daughter-in-law at all hours of the day or night. We also had verbal conflicts and a couple of times he beat up his son, Elisjano. He would ring the phone, non-stop, I had had it for two years. We told him not to ring the phone. We even complained to the court about this. The daughter-in-law had filed a lawsuit against him. They had made an agreement with the police for 5-6 months that they would not have conflicts. We were convinced that he was making the calls. "I want to make the calls", he would say.
His wife's phone rang at all hours of the day. Sometimes not anonymously. He would send her messages. He would harass his wife. She would tell him not to call her anymore. She wouldn't answer. My brother was not aware of the calls he was making to his wife. None of the brothers knew. At 12:00 at night I found out that Çajupi had been killed. I went to the police station, they said come on, I asked them 10 times what you have, they didn't tell me. At the police station they told me that he had been killed. I told them that I had been on the streets, I had taken my mother to the hospital. I could have gone 10 days without seeing Bujar. My mother stayed with Bujar, but I accompanied him to the hospital because he had livestock, he was a shepherd. Erisjano was in Tirana, he came after 3-4 days. That night the police looked for him, but then they called the bride's phone and said that Erisjano was in Tirana. "We didn't go to his funeral because I was in the police force," the witness concluded.
