A 20-year-old foreign national employed in Albania as a cleaning worker has been arrested by the police. The arrest of the young woman came after suspicions that the AP killed the baby.
According to the Police announcement, the Crime Investigation Specialists of the Police Commissariat No. 1 have detained a foreign national, AP, 20 years old, after the Court issued a detention order against her. According to the official announcement, the young woman is suspected of the criminal offense of "Murder of an Infant".
The police intervention was carried out in accordance with the court decision, while the authorities have initiated the relevant legal procedures. The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
Investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of the case, in accordance with applicable legislation. Authorities have not provided further details, stressing that the case is in the investigation phase.
