After the serious road accident on the Saranda-Delvina axis, where two sisters Rozina and Ela Dhimaku lost their lives, while Antonela Zhupa was seriously injured, the Court of Saranda has imposed a security measure on the driver of the vehicle that caused the tragedy, 23-year-old Kevin Norra.
The hearing took place on Monday morning in the courtroom. The prosecutor in the case, Besjana Sadikaj, requested the security measure "arrest with imprisonment", emphasizing the high risk of the action and the fact that the event has had serious consequences for the lives of citizens. The request was accepted by the trial panel.
Norra was arrested immediately after the tragic accident that occurred on Sunday evening. According to Traffic Police sources, he was driving while intoxicated and made a wrong overtaking move, losing control of the vehicle and causing the fatal collision.
The incident has shocked the city of Saranda and the entire public opinion, while the Dhimaku family is mourning the loss of two young girls. Meanwhile, the injured Antonela Zhupa is under the care of doctors, with her health condition still serious.
Investigations into the accident continue, while the driver of the vehicle is expected to face serious charges for violating traffic rules and driving while intoxicated, which resulted in the death of more than one person.
