The two Dhimaku sisters, Elvisa, 22, and Rozina, 20, were tearfully escorted to their final home. The Dhimaku family in Kopaçëz, Delvina, is in mourning, while the parents of the two girls and relatives await condolences for the untimely loss of the two girls in the prime of their youth.
The sacrifices to cure their 7-year-old brother, who suffers from leukemia, were great not only for the head of the family who deals with livestock, but also for the two daughters who worked two jobs to cope with the difficult economic conditions.
Report TV was with the Dhimaku family, where the family members tearfully told that the two girls were selling corn in the coastal city of Saranda, to cover the costs of treatment for their brother who has been suffering from leukemia for 3 years. The aunt and daughter tell Report TV that the evening when the accident occurred, Elvisa and Rozina had finished one of their jobs and had returned to their apartment to relax. After 30 minutes, they set off to sell corn in Saranda, which is teeming with tourists, but the 24-year-old employee of the Ministry of Interior, Kevi Norra, drunk at the wheel and speeding, cut off the road due to a wrong overtaking, taking his life.
"We live in such great pain. The two maids left and never returned. They had come home from work in the evening, they were doing two jobs to help their brother recover because they couldn't afford it. They came, rested, and then went back to work. In Saranda, they sold corn and village goods. They left, and we feel the pain," says Shahide, the aunt of the two girls.
They still haven't found the courage to tell their 7-year-old son that his two sisters have died. They have removed the little one from the house, while they have an appeal for help from all Albanians to help with his treatment. The little one needs more specialized treatment and the family is asking for support for the treatment.
"They have an only brother, he was very close to them, if we found out... we would have removed him from the house. We are asking for help so that the boy can go to a more specialized hospital to save us," says Shahidja, the girls' aunt, through tears.
Family members say that the 7-year-old was treated in a hospital in Greece for three months, where he began to improve. But due to the length of his stay, the family was forced to return, although they had requested an extension of the period from the Ministry of Health, but they had not received a response.
The girls' uncle and aunt have also joined the appeal for help, emphasizing that the only hope for the family is the recovery of their little boy.
"I live in exile. What happened to us should not happen to anyone, not even my enemies. I also ask for help for my son, who has been suffering from these problems for 3 years. He has a blood disease. We have fought with our own strength as long as we have been able. The son is 7 years old. The moment he finds out, his condition will immediately worsen," says the girls' uncle, Vasil Dhimaku.
The father of the two girls is a livestock farmer, while the mother takes care of her sick son.
"2 stars, two girls, 22 years old and 20 years old, both students in Tirana. The parents, workers in the village, worked day and night for those girls to settle down and study. They are asking for help for the boy, may God help us. The boy knows nothing about the sisters," said Servet Dervishi, the girls' uncle.
Rozina Dhimaku studied Nursing, while her sister Elvisa studied Laboratory Technology, at private universities. Growing up amidst hardship, they dreamed of wearing the white T-shirts, but their lives were tragically cut short, leaving their parents, family and acquaintances in immense pain.
Traces of the accident are still visible on the Delvinë-Saranda road. Red and white flowers were placed by a relative at the spot where the two girls collided to death.
