Korça Police have initiated criminal proceedings against Nevzat Çeço, the father of Martin Çeço, after public statements in which he threatened the three people suspected of murdering his son, an event that occurred three years ago, with self-defense and revenge.
According to the official announcement, Nevzat Çeço, 70 years old, resident of the village of Kolanec, Maliq Municipality, has been taken into custody. The criminal proceedings were referred by the Maliq Police Commissariat for the criminal offense of "serious threat of revenge or blood feud".
The incident is related to the elderly man's reaction on January 15, following the decision of the Tirana Court of Appeal, which changed the security measure for the three suspects from "prison arrest" to "house arrest." Following this decision, Nevzat Çeço publicly declared that he would take revenge on them, threatening to burn them with gasoline and then commit suicide, as he could not accept the release of the perpetrators.
Police say the threats are documented in a video posted on social media. The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
