The head of crimes in Përmet, Dhurim Çenko, has been suspended from duty by order of the director of the Gjirokastra Police, Altin Merizaj, because he was aware of the abuse of a 16-year-old girl by her stepfather, a police officer.
Čenko has been sent for disciplinary investigation to the Standards Directorate. It is learned that he was aware of the sexual abuse the minor was experiencing and had not taken any measures to denounce his employee.
The scandal was revealed on September 18, after some data was published on social networks proving that the minor had been abused by her stepfather, a citizen with the initials PB, a police officer.
It also emerged that another police officer, Artur Ago, was suspected of sexually harassing the minor. The police officer had been blackmailed by the girl's boyfriend, Kristian Prifti, and his friend, Isi Pasho, who said that if he did not pay a fine of 10,000 euros, they would publish the intimate video.
