Two fires have broken out this afternoon near the village of Borizanë, above the cement factory and near the quarry area. Sources on the ground suspect that the fires are intentional and were started to clear land for existing quarries or to open a new quarry.
The district fire department has been deployed to the scene with all the tools and forces at its disposal. Despite intensive work, strong winds are favoring the spread of the flames, burning entire hectares of young pine trees.
The situation is made even more worrying because about a kilometer away from the fire source there is a dynamite depot that supplies the area's quarries. If the flames are not brought under control in time, there is a real risk that they will approach the dynamite depot, which would significantly worsen the situation and turn it into a major emergency.
