New details emerge from SPAK's investigations regarding the tender affair at the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), where Ergys Agasi and businessman Ermal Beqiri are at the center of the accusations.
According to the indictment, Ergys Agasi, in collaboration with Ermal Beqiri and with the help of State Police structures, is accused of having taken hostage businessman Gerone Mece, who at that time was the winner of several tenders at AKSHI. Sources close to the investigation indicate that Mece was threatened and blackmailed, in order to withdraw from any tender procedure.
After pressure and threats, businessman Gerone Mece was forced to withdraw from public competitions, giving up participating in tenders. Subsequently, according to SPAK, the tenders were won by companies linked to Ermal Beqiri, passing the procedures into a single hand.
The investigations are examining the specific role of the State Police in this scheme, as well as the way in which pressure was exerted on businessman Mece. These accusations further aggravate the position of Ergys Agas and Ermal Beqiri, who are suspected of involvement in a well-organized scheme to control public tenders in AKSHI, through blackmail, threats and favoritism of companies affiliated with them.
SPAK is continuing investigations into the criminal offenses of corruption, abuse of office, violation of equality in tenders, and criminal collaboration, while other procedural measures are expected to follow.
