Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again come out in support of the former director of the Albanian Public Administration Agency (AKSHI), Mirlinda Karçanaj, accused by SPAK of tender abuses. In the presentation of the new director, Igli Tafa, the Prime Minister did not forget to publicly thank her for her contribution to public administration.
Rama even condemned every attack launched against Karçanaj, as according to him, he was the first to arrive at work and the last to leave.
"First of all, I wanted to come personally to thank Linda Karcanajna, who has worked with me for 2 decades, since we were in the municipality of Tirana. I know her as a person dedicated to the function and public service in this country. You know her and I believe you share the opinion that Linda was the first to come to work and the last to leave," said Rama.
In an attempt to separate the former director of AKSHI from the rest of the accused, the prime minister said that he is not aware of the companies involved in the SPAK investigation, but he is aware that Linda is a single mother with two children.
It's just that Edi Rama forgot that along with Karçanaj, Ergys Agasi and Ermal Beqiri are also accused of tender abuses. It is not known whether the head of government feels sorry for the latter two.
In fact, Rama's statements lamenting Karçanaj's plight are a stale hypocrisy. Given that we are talking about someone accused by SPAK of corruption and being investigated as a structured criminal group, the least the prime minister should do is remain silent and wait for the investigations to conclude.
Because what interests Albanians most is how their millions of euros of taxes have been managed and where they have gone, and not whether Karçanaj has a house or two children, as Rama's heart aches every time he talks about him.
