For MPs to go to voters and carry out their duties in electoral zones during December cost taxpayers 78 thousand euros.
Only for per diem expenses for domestic travel, according to official data provided by VNA, the total amount disbursed for this item reaches 7,832,097 lekë. (This does not include the fuel fund, because it is separate).
While the SP and the DP are working quietly and away from public attention on a new law on the status of MPs, which is expected to give them more privileges, higher rent bonuses, staff for each, office and transport, let's analyze the current data.
Who are the MPs who benefited the most?
At the top of the list for the highest expenses during December is Niko Peleshi. The Speaker of the Assembly and the deputy of the remote Korça district, has benefited from 1800 euros for the month of December alone. He is followed by the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, with a value of 1700 euros. Among the other names that lead the list due to their engagements in the field are Klodiana Spahiu and Luçiano Boçi with 1500 euros each.
A large group of deputies have benefited from similar figures, mainly in the value of 1480 euros. Among them we can mention: Antoneta Dhima, Aurora Mara, Elda Hoti, Luan Baçi, Vangjel Dule and Bledjon Nallbati.
MPs with "zero" expenses
On the other hand, a significant part of the legislators have not received a single penny for travel allowances within the country during this period. The list with a value of 0 includes names such as Fatmir Xhafa, Lindita Nikolla, Damian Gjiknuri, Sali Berisha and Agron Shehaj. Also, without any benefit from this fund are MPs such as Ilirjan Pendavinji, Fadil Nasufi and Vullnet Sinaj.
These payments reflect the dynamics of MPs' movements in their electoral zones and their official commitments during the last month of the year, although the scheme does not guarantee that these MPs actually held meetings with voters in December.
