Following the Democratic Party's boycott of the Special Commission for Territorial Reform, the Socialist Party has launched an initiative for changes in the composition of this commission, with the aim, according to them, of facilitating the development of the works.
In a letter to the Assembly, the Socialists demand that the equality of members and the concept of co-chair be removed, proposing that the majority have the majority and lead the committee.
According to the proposal, the total number of members will increase to 19, with 9 representatives from the Socialist Party (up from 8 currently), 6 from the Democratic Party, 1 from the Alliance for Change Parliamentary Group and 1 from the Freedom Party.
The document shows that since the creation of the commission on October 27, 2025, four official meetings have been held. Only the meeting of November 27, 2025 was held with the full participation of all members, while in the meetings of December 17, 2025 and January 22, 2026, the opposition did not participate, impeding the normal development of the work.
