The head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, announced that today, together with the group's deputies, they will submit to the Assembly the report of the Mandates Council for granting authorization to deputy Belinda Balluku, following the request submitted by SPAK.
Bardhi states that the DP parliamentary group supports SPAK's request, based on the principle of equality before the law and respect for justice.
He states that the prosecution has documented thousands of pages of evidence of abuse of office and pre-emption of public procedures by Balluku, with a total value of 1.1 billion euros. According to the prosecution, these actions have caused considerable financial damage to the Albanian state and the MP risks a high criminal sentence.
Bardhi added that, according to the prosecution, during these months Balluku is suspected of having tampered with evidence and influenced witnesses. He also accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of politically protecting Balluku.
