The tender that aims to intervene in the aesthetic aspect and functional improvement of the Durrës coast as part of the projects being implemented by the Albanian Development Fund has recently been appealed to the Public Procurement Commission (PPC).
This is a procedure with the object of the contract "Investments in the infrastructure of markets, commercial spaces, multifunctional, commercial roads in model development areas, etc. Phase III Regions 1&2: Interventions to increase the tourist offer and for the functional and aesthetic improvement of the coast, Municipality of Durrës" with a fund limit of 540 million lek or about 5.5 million euros.
At the PPC, the complaint has been categorized as related to the assessment made by the Bid Evaluation Commission for the procedure opened on December 4 and closed on December 22, 2025. It now remains up to the Commission to decide on the next steps that can be taken by the contracting authority. But what does the project actually foresee?
Intervention in Durrës
The ADF plans to intervene in Durrës, starting with the redevelopment of an area of approximately 544 thousand m2, which includes the area from the port of Durrës to Kavalishenca.
"This project aims to transform the coastal area of the city of Durrës into a contemporary tourist, recreational and urban destination, through carefully planned architectural and urban interventions.
It includes the expansion of the existing beach, the creation of a linear green park along the coastline, the development of multifunctional public spaces, and the integration of new recreational and sports infrastructures.
The length of the intervention area is about 2.8 km, with an extension of the coastline up to 100 meters towards the sea, creating new public spaces for residents and visitors," the document states./ Monitor
