The Democratic Party will vote in Parliament on Albania's commitment to US President Donald Trump's initiative to participate in the Gaza Peace Board, despite criticism of the way Prime Minister Edi Rama has promoted this invitation to public opinion.
DP MP Ina Zhupa stated in a direct link to A2CNN that the opposition will support this initiative without any discussion, describing the pro-American stance as an unchanging part of the Democratic Party's political identity.
According to Zhupa, the DP considers the US a strategic partner and supports every peace initiative undertaken by the US administration, including that of President Donald Trump. She emphasized that Albania's participation in this board does not constitute a special privilege for the Rama government, but is a protocol commitment in which over 100 countries participate, including countries such as Russia or Belarus.
"The DP has been, is and will be a pro-American and pro-European party. We have also maintained a public stance in support of President Donald Trump and will never be against decisions made by the American administration," said Zhupa.
She added that this issue is not a subject of debate within the Democratic Party, as it is sanctioned in its statute and political principles. At the same time, Zhupa criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama for attempting to present the invitation as a personal success or as evidence of a special relationship with the American president.
According to her, this approach is simply political propaganda and is not related to any concrete achievements of the majority, while the DP, Zhupa emphasized, does not confuse its positions towards the government with the strategic relationship it has with the United States of America.
