Former Freedom Party MP Monika Kryemadhi, who appeared at SPAK due to the security measure, stated that she will not request a summary trial, but will face SPAK prosecutors in a court session and will call many witnesses.
Kryemadhi is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, along with her ex-husband, former president Ilir Meta, her mother Fatime Kryemadhi, as well as Ema Çoku and Piro Xhixho.
"I will also ask for many other witnesses, in addition to those called by SPAK, because out of over 100 people called, none have given testimony against me, Mr. Meta or others," said Kryemadhi.
Asked who the witnesses are that she will call to appear before the Special Court, Kryemadhi said that they are interesting names. "It is too early to reveal them as news, but they are interesting names. For example, my cousin from America. One of the reasons I have asked is why he has not been questioned yet. The prosecutor said that he has not come to Albania."
The chief prosecutor accused SPAK of exceeding its powers during the investigation.
"On my side, I see abuse of office and excess of powers, in addition to discrimination and intimidation of witnesses and institutions," emphasized the former MP, who has now retired from active political life.
