In a statement to the media from SPAK premises, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, avoided giving a direct answer to the amount paid to the American campaign strategist, Chris LaCivita.
Berisha stated that he did not spend a single personal penny, emphasizing:
"I did not spend a single personal penny, because the campaign was covered by the DP. Whatever expenses I incurred were covered by the DP."
He added that the Central Election Commission has distributed forms only for MPs to declare their personal expenses and not for parties:
"The DP has a law that determines the legal capacity when the DP will declare expenses and guarantee that it will declare every penny."
Asked when the Democratic Party will make public the invoice for the payment to LaCivita, Berisha replied:
"I will not say what the time limit is set by law. The CEC has distributed forms for MPs to declare expenses, but not the parties."
