At a time when most Albanians do not see Sali Berisha as an alternative to lead the country, Fatmir Mediu still has hopes that one day the chief democrat, along with the wrinkled PD, will be resurrected. In an interview with A2 CNN, Mediu said that currently there is no figure who can unite the PD and the opposition as a whole except him.
"To do an analysis of the elections, an ODIHR report is needed. The DP must analyze who the problems were."
"I don't judge the rules within the DP. If Berisha is asked to leave, I don't think there is an authority that can unite them in a single front. We cannot commit suicide because we will be resurrected like Christ," said Mediu.
Apparently, the comfort that Berisha gave him on the safe list for MPs has darkened his eyes from the results of May 11, when Albanians massively rejected Berisha. A result that not only gave Edi Rama a fourth mandate, but also filled the Democratic Party with the usual faces, extinguishing any hope that the DP would be an alternative for Albanians.
But it remains to be assessed whether Mediu believes in the return of Berisha, who, in addition to half of the Democrats, political consumption and successive losses, is also opposed by biological age. However, the chairman of the Republican Party, before crying about the troubles of the DP and the Democrats, would do well to one day do an analysis of his own party. Because he has been its chairman for 28 years but the deputy comes from the DP lists and it is not known how many votes the PR has.
