The Together Movement held a protest in front of the Durrës Municipality this Friday morning, in response to the massive floods that have affected several areas of the city for several days.
During the rally, protesters demanded the declaration of a state of emergency and an in-depth investigation into the operation of the second hydroelectric dam, considering it one of the main causes of the serious situation created by the rainfall.
They also called for a full investigation into the case of Durrës Municipality employee Astrit Hysenaj, who was found dead yesterday. According to the protesters, there are suspicions that he was swept away by the floodwaters, which requires a full investigation into the circumstances.
During the protest, participants held banners with inscriptions such as "State of emergency now", "Water is drowning us, corruption rules" and "Investigation into the new port", accusing local institutions of negligence and lack of responsibility in managing the situation.
