The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted regarding the situation created by the floods in several regions of the country, asking the government to immediately declare a state of natural disaster.
On behalf of the DP Parliamentary Group, Bardhi declares that he has officially requested the Council of Ministers to take urgent measures to manage the situation and support the affected residents. According to him, the main demands are:
– Declaring a state of regional natural disaster for the regions affected by floods and water inundations, specifically Durrës, Lezhë, Elbasan, Shkodër, Gjirokastër, Vlorë and Fier.
– Conducting a full and objective assessment of the damages at their real value, as well as full financial compensation for the affected residents.
– Immediate informing of the Albanian Parliament about the situation, the risks that arise and the measures taken to deal with the emergency.
Bardhi emphasizes that not declaring a state of natural disaster would make it impossible to fully compensate the affected residents and would constitute a serious act of institutional irresponsibility.
