The Electoral Reform Commission met this Friday, continuing the dialogue process between the majority and the opposition.
The experts proposed by the parties participated in the roundtable:
From the SP - Viktor Gumi, Elena Xhina, Dardan Malaj.
From the DP - Altin Kazizaj, Muharrem Çakaj, Arjan Madhi.
The meeting comes a day after the opposition also joined the Territorial Reform Commission, signaling a calmer climate of cooperation after recent political clashes.
The co-chair of the commission, Damian Gjiknuri, emphasized that the objective is to produce the most functional rules for the electoral process:
"The product of this commission should be the best rules for those who aspire to power."
While the opposition co-chair, Oerd Bylykbashi, said:
"What is important is the work and expertise of experts. Consultations must turn into a product of work. We definitely need the expertise of the OSCE and the EU. State interference in elections is a major problem. The diaspora vote remains a colossal challenge."
While Fatmir Mediu added:
"I hope that what happened in past reforms, where OSCE-ODIHR recommendations were not met, will not be repeated."
